Barite
Natural barium sulfate (BaSO4) is a mineral with a relatively high compacted apparent density (3.80 g/cm3 to 4.2 g/cm3), it is available in different colors and is supplied in the following granulometries/meshes: 100, 325, 400, 500 and micronized.
Barite (natural barium sulfate) is a relatively inert product in alkaline and acidic environments, in addition to being insoluble in water. It is widely used as an agent controlling the density of oil well drilling muds/fluids, acoustic insulation, and radiation protection agent (barite mortar). Due to its low oil absorption, high brightness, covering power, opacity, and resistance (chemical and abrasion), it is widely used as a mineral additive, pigment, and titanium extender in a wide range of paint formulations. It is also used in the manufacture of sports materials in the manufacture of balls (bowling, billiards, golf, and tennis) for acoustic insulation.
Main applications in the industries: Rubber, Ceramics, Mattresses/Foam, Civil Construction (high-density concrete and mortars), Friction (brakes, tarpaulins, and clutches), Pigments, Oil, Polymers, Plastics, Radiological protection, Chemicals, Glass, Paints/Varnishes, etc.
